Dr. Gerald Mozdzierz
Dr. Gerald Mozdzierz has been a psychologist for more than thirty years. He is an accomplished researcher, administrator, teacher, and has published over 100 health related articles. For years, he was the editor of the Journal of Individual Psychology. He has traveled the world giving lectures and seminars and was the Chief of the Department of Psychology at Hines VA Hospital. Despite the many responsibilities he has continued to provide individual and couple’s psychotherapy.

I discovered your Principles of Counseling and Psychotherapy text and really appreciate it. I’m a Psychologist in private practice in Champaign, IL and also provide the practicum courses for graduate students in Counseling Psychology at the University of Illinois. The approach you and your co-authors take is fantastic and I’m very excited to share it with students.
One of the requests I’ve gotten from one of my students is the possibility of watching video of therapists in action. Do you know of any recent videos available showing practitioners illustrating some of the concepts you outline in the text? I’m focusing on the Level II practitioner section with advanced students. Any recommendations you could offer would be much appreciated.

Hi Dr. Davis:
So good of you to comment on our textbook. We have actually received nothing but positive comments. I believe that is the case because in my conceptualizing the book I focused on the essential things that all master practitioners pay attention to (i.e., the “domains”). Students struggle for years sorting through so many different “techniques,” etc. that it takes forever to develop a sense of what they need to do. If you would like I will come to Champaign (at no cost of any sort) and do a presentation and/or conduct a “case consultation” group session for your students. My thinking is simply this, others have been thoughtful to me and I would like to return those kindnesses. Let me know.
